Just a couple more posts until the split!

gkarshens 12/26/2006 03:59 PM

I guess that did it.

msuzuki126 12/26/2006 04:46 PM

Gorgeous tangs!

gkarshens 12/26/2006 04:47 PM

Thanks!

Congrats on the split! Resubscribing.

My sixline wrasse goes crazy over nori, too.

jnarowe 12/27/2006 12:21 AM

fish look great Gabriel. I notice that the sailfin has a fairly pronounced lateral line, which makes me think that the Lateral Line disease on mine is not as bad as I think it is. :)

rdmpe 12/27/2006 07:23 AM

My wrasse eat nori too... Kind of wierd but probably good for them...

Funny you mentioned that because I noticed the line in the pictures too. I had never noticed it when looking at him before. I wonder if the camera makes it seem more pronounced. You can see it on the Orange Shoulder too in the first pic.

jnarowe 12/27/2006 11:45 AM

the camera can only see what is there, right? :)

Micki 12/27/2006 01:33 PM

All of my fish eat the nori. Even my clowns.

Yeah but sometimes it makes things more obvious. You don't get as large a spectrum in aperture with a camera as you do with the eye so it tends to make harsher contrasts. I read somewhere that the eye can see 20 or 21 different f-stops at once where as a camera only picks up 5.

I got my new Nanostream today!!!

Here it is in the box:

And in the tank:

It really moves some water. I love the magnet holder too. It makes it so easy to adjust.

melev 12/27/2006 10:04 PM

Very cool!

jnarowe 12/28/2006 01:11 AM

sweet. :)

gkarshens 12/29/2006 06:54 PM

I just went Nudi hunting again and on the underside of the cap I got from you Mike I found 3 more large ones and a bunch of eggs. I just threw the whole thing away. :(

Sorry to hear about the Nudi's. Is there a known cure, predator? Sorry for the lose of the Monti. :(

Dudester 12/29/2006 08:33 PM

Gabriel, that blows! Hope I didn't give them to you, although again, I've never seen them in my tank. I'll look again. Do you think that cap got infected from something else in your tank, or do you think they came from me? I haven't added any montis to my tank in over a year, and all of mine look fine.

Dudester 01/02/2007 01:59 PM

Gabriel, just wanted to let you know that I removed a large green monti cap from my tank, as well as a 6" x 6" piece of the parent cap that I gave you. I dipped both of them and found no nudibranchs, so I don't think you got them from me. There, now I feel better  .

Have you added any other montis to your tank recently?

gkarshens 01/02/2007 02:27 PM

Sorry I didn't see your post from the other day. I don't know where they came from. Your's was the only Monti I had introduced in about 6 months. I don't think they came from you or you would have them too. They may have been eggs on some new pieces of live rock I put in about a month ago. If that is the case it is John's fault. ;)

Dudester 01/02/2007 02:50 PM

Not to intentionally implicate others, but didn't you get a piece of monti cap at the last ARC meeting? Did your nudi problem pre-date that?

Aaa, you're right, it's probably John's fault :D

gkarshens 01/02/2007 02:53 PM

I did get a piece of orange cap from Jason but it was after I got the Nudis. I dipped and inspected it carefully.

gkarshens 01/02/2007 05:51 PM

I did a 25g water change yesterday. (for my records)

I have been told a larger Wrasse will eat them. So I have an LFS trying to get me an Ornate Wrasse. They only get up to 7" so he shouldn't be as destructive to my snail and crab population.

gkarshens 01/10/2007 07:34 PM

Well I got the new fish today. The Wrasse that was sent is not an Ornate but a Two Spot(not to be confused with a Twin Spot). I went ahead and took him since he is very similar in markings and should also go after the Nudis. He actually stays smaller than an Ornate, only getting to about 5". He ate my homemade mix food within an hour of getting into the tank! Here he is:

Also here is a couple new corals I got in trades:
