Tek Reflectors

Unfortunately IceCap doesn't make 60'' SLR's so I'll have to settle for Tek reflectors.

Does anyone how wide Tek reflectors are?

etrigo29 01/06/2008 07:25 PM

i'm in the same boat as you, but go to reefgeek.com and what they do is use two 39 watt reflectors and combine them to make a 60" reflector

Thanks.

Isn't that a one foot overhang though?

There's nothing wrong with tek reflectors, they are very nice. They spread out the light more than the IC's as they are for horticulture. The IC's are more intense but spread out less. But the tek's work just fine.

are we talking about tek reflector or the Tek2 reflector? maybe aquatinics can make you some custom reflectors.

Tek2 if i had to guess. And the reflectors from Aquacintics would be an arm and a leg because of all those raw material prices going up ; )

you dont know that, they are being made out to be unreasonably expensive, they are not....

I do think the reason people bought them was quality at a low price and without that low price people go with the better looking fixtures.

That was a joke bud...no idea what aquacintics would charge.

What's the difference between the Tek and the Tek2 reflectors? Width on each reflector?

luke33 01/07/2008 07:10 PM

The tek 2's are pretty wide at 2.75" instead of 2.25" and have alot more bends, thats about it.

etrigo29 01/07/2008 08:40 PM

i'm pretty sure that aquaticincs uses the IC reflectors. As far as IC fixtures they are 31ish inches, enough to overlap slightly and be used as 60" reflectors. Reefgeeks prices aren't bad, but at 80 dollars less teh Tek2 retros are tempting
