I think these fish would be an awesome addtion to both of your tanks.
I first saw these in Leonardo's Reef tank. I didn't know they were readily availible in the US.

Aimforever 05/29/2007 09:17 PM

I have a feeling this is to be the first of many splits... :-)

gws294 05/29/2007 09:37 PM

Congrats on the split,

Geoff

Maximus, replying.

Von, thank you. This was my dream too.. and now Im happy to finally live in it. Im sure your time will come sooner than you think.

fishcraze2002 05/30/2007 10:27 PM

I love the way those pics are taken that showed the shade and bright area... very interesting. Naka, you're a pro- photographer now:)
Edward, your 6500 k turns out to be a good combination w/ your other bulbs - didn't look yellow as I thought of the 6500K

invincible569 05/31/2007 05:54 AM

Thanks guys.. quoc, I really like this combination. Im about to add the other one to the other side soon. I didnt have a reason to rush it since I dont have any SPS on that side. by the way.. all your frags have been growing good.

Any idea how much par the spot lights put out? They seem pretty far from the tank? You would think they would lose a lot of there intensity that far from the tank? Sorry if this has been answered before.

According to the laws of Physics using the Inverse Square Law... if i place the spotlight half closer than where you see it now, I would be gaining 1/4 back of the light intensity. I did purchase the stems for the spotlights, but they are too long and need to get them shortened some how. This would put the light distance halfway from the water surface.

Looks great Ed. I am very envious of your aquascape. I wouldn't change a thing!

Ed, if you're still interested in Cardinals check out Apogon parvulus, the Red Spot Cardinal. It's adult size is around 1.5" and they school very nicely. Unfortunately, they don't survive transshipment very well. I ordered 7 and only 1 survived the first few days - however, he is bullet proof. I'm tempted to order more but feel bad about the harsh mortality - nonetheless a school of 10 or so in my 60g would be SWEET.

They used to be very inexpensive ($5-$10) but due to increased interest they are now a little more expensive ($15-$20). Any of your local shops should be able to keep their eyes peeled, I know SDC had some a few months back. They are getting more popular in the States so it shouldn't be hard.

vallon 06/01/2007 12:47 AM

Your tank looks amazing. What I like the most is the "clean look". Simple yet refined and very elegant.

invincible569 06/01/2007 02:38 PM

Ewan, thank you. I dont plan too. :)

Reefmonk, I was actually looking at the red stop cardinals a while back. :) I want about 30 or 40 of something. ;)

vallon, thank you. I hope to make it more alive as it matures.

jnarowe 06/01/2007 03:46 PM

I wish I could find 40+ of the red stops!

chris wright 06/01/2007 07:27 PM

40 odd fish, wow now that would be something worth seeing. Good luck getting your hands on them.

TRITON1 06/01/2007 07:38 PM

Tank looks great! The side shot really shows all the open space. Do you have a pic of how the tank looks in the room its in? Just curious to see it placement.

ReeferMonkey 06/01/2007 08:53 PM

I think you can definitely find that many red spots, getting decent numbers to survive the trip to your LFS or home is another story. That would be a helluva thing to see in an aquarium.

jnarowe 06/01/2007 09:01 PM

I wouldn't do it unless I could add the entire school at the same time. I just lost another chromis...but one of my GBTAs gained a snack!

chris wright 06/02/2007 01:41 AM

I suppose that's one way to look at it

invincible569 06/02/2007 06:47 AM

We will see what I can find on the schooling fish.

Triton, I will try and get a pic of the area its in soon.

I just finished testing my water and everything is on target except Mg as it should be. I love this Schuran Jestream 2 as it has kept my alk levels stable for a few months now. I didnt have to use a perstaltic pump either. The flow is consistent.

Water parameters:

S.G.: 1.025
Temp: 79 F
Ca: 520
Alk: 12.5
Mg: 1450 (need to raise this back up to 1500+). It lowered because of the many water changes I made without supplementing Mg as I normally would to the WC.

Im also thinking about dosing limewater in order to purifer the water. This changes the water chemistry, but has anyone used limewater to clean the air from C02 converting it to 02 stabilizing tank PH? I would think this would be helpful at the skimmer level where the air is sucked into the pumps where air collides with water creating a fine water chemical balance.
