broken center brace

I was reaquascaping my 72 aga bf and broke my center brace . local LFS ordered me a new top trim but for now a have clamp holding it from bowing out to much. I plan on draining the tank down to about 6 inchs of water when changing the trim any good tips on how to get the old trim off whitout damaging the tank. thanks

Use a dremel to cut around the corner edge of the brace all the way around the tank. Then carefully cut a section of it out witth the dremel and you should be able to get underneath the brace with a putty knife and carefully peal the brace away. Take your time with the dremel and don't touch the glass.

I believe the bracing is held on to the glass with a bed of silicon.
