What is this clear slimmy stuff on top of my sump water
 

There is a thin film of clear slime on the top of my sump water, any ideas.

Sounds like you might have a fair load of dissolved/undissolved organics- how much confidence do you have in your skimmer?
Is it possible you system has "gone sexual"? (spawning going on)

I don't understand. My skimmer is working well and about 40% of my return water travels through it all the time.
Could a couple of shrimp be spawning cause it, or are we talking corals.

If you feel your skimmer is working well (producing decent quantities of dark skimmate, appropriate for the biomass and feeding level) then I would think a good possibility is some sort of bloom or spawning event. Whether or not shrimp could cause this- not sure. I find that surface films are uncommon when sufficient skimming is taking place. Did you have any animals die off recently?
I'd recommend to manually skim the sump- and do a water change to hedge any potential problem.

Thanks for the advice. The skimmer is working like it always has. The only thing that has died in my tank that I am aware of is my large clown. He was eaten and swollowed by one of my mushrooms. Yes, it happened, in fact if you look at my pic's you can see the clown inside the mushroom that is closed up. But that was last week and nothing else has died.

And we gotta talk about your image resizing, set them for at least 400 pixels wide, I want to see the original of that killer mushroom.
