Black crushed coral

I wouls like to use a black substrate in my fish only tank. My local fish store has a fine black gravel, but warned me that it is not a PH buffering substrate like crushed coral. Does anyone know if black crushed coral or another substrate that is PH buffering is available ? Is this even an issue(using non buffering gravel as a substrate?
Thanks in advance for your help!!:)

There is a variety of sand known as Fiji black sand .I think it is composed of araganite and volcanic rock .. ..Caribsea Tropical Isle Tahitian Moon doesn't affect ph so I apt to guess it has no real buffering capacity . If you are changing water on a good schedule that should help with buffering ..check it out via www.caribsea.com
