Can I put two Sixlines in a 20 gallon long?

Lots of liverock and pods from fuge. Only other fish would be Ocellaris.

FOSELONE 12/11/2007 09:45 PM

i wouldnt put any...very bad behavior...very agressive...

adtravels 12/11/2007 09:46 PM

If you wan tto watch wrasse roller coster:)

MIKE ALERS 12/12/2007 12:53 AM

agreed with the rest.they are pretty agressive.i got one in my 125 and he seems to run the tank.

bvanhoveln 12/13/2007 11:35 AM

I think it depends on when you put the fish in the tank as well as the age of the fish.

the sixline is the last fish I added to my tank (8 total fish) and it is significantly smaller (1.5 inches) than the rest of the fish. So it doesn't dominate with a large tomato clown (4 inches), and Clown Tang (6 inches) in the tank. I think he knows where he stands.

I will be moving everyone to a six foot 200 gallon aquarium in 4 months - I am waiting before adding anything else to my tank.

3 pajama cardinals
1 saddleback clown
1 tomato clown
1 clown tang
1 flameangel
1 sixline wrasse

Yeah it should be an interesting death match. If you want them to live i wouldnt do it but if you are purposely doing it to witness the carnage than go for it! lol

jmaneyapanda 12/13/2007 02:01 PM

despite all the quick oneliners in this thread- I say do not do it. It would be amlmost guranateed in at least one death. Do not waste your money or a fishes life.

snorvich 12/13/2007 04:47 PM

I agree with jmaneyapanda. They are good at eating flatworms but there are other ways of dealing with that issue.

One ocellaris I've had for seven years. Then I would quarantine the two sixlines before adding. Getting the sixlines as small as possible online.

No it doesn't - not when you are talking about adding two six lines. It will always cause problems!

jraducha 12/14/2007 12:42 AM

I wouldnt do it..One is enough....Perhaps...find something else..they torment other fish in the tank..I have heard the add last rule..that doesnt always apply..

twon8 12/14/2007 03:10 AM

i would pick another fish, six line are mean

The problem is six lines are territorial two will not co exist in a tank together, one will end up dead. The size of the fish has nothing to do with it, one of the six lines will kill the other six line! Why dont you get one 6 line, and one other small fish.

technoshaman 12/14/2007 03:41 PM

You will end up with one 6 line in my opinion. Unless you have something on the order of a 300 gallon, 10' tank I'd just get one. I really wouldn't add even one since they are bullies and get worse the longer they are established making new additions very difficult.

How bout one canary blenny with my clown. Do they really have a poisonous fang?

petoonia 12/15/2007 12:15 AM

A canary blenny should be fine!! A gold midas blenny is also a beautiful fish!!!

hahnmeister 12/15/2007 06:37 AM

I wouldnt put one 6-line in a 30g. Look into flasher/carpenter wrasses.

scrapman 12/15/2007 02:17 PM

I have a six line and a coral beauty in a 20 gal high.... the six line was 1st..... they are the best friends, eat together, swim together

cherubfish pair 12/17/2007 11:06 PM

Okay, I had a sixline previously with a clown in a 29 gallon and they did just fine.

I'm glad I got it straight now, two sixlines would be a disaster.

nybyrne 12/18/2007 06:04 AM

I have a six line in my 125 reef and I have had no problems. abey because he has a lot of places to hide?
