THanks still have a good amount of work to do.......

splateee 12/27/2007 03:59 PM

That is going to be a awsome tank. I like the color of the stand and canopy.

KenT 12/27/2007 09:28 PM

Where did you get it??

RBU1 12/27/2007 09:41 PM

KenT the tank came from Midwest Custom Aquariums and the stand was custom made by a guy name John in Texas. He does great wood work. All I have to do is stain and poly it. If you need any info on getting custom made stands or canopies send me a PM.

OK some more pics.......Here is what $800.00 worth of Schedule 80 plumbing looks like......

Doesn't look like much at all, does it?

KenT 12/27/2007 10:50 PM

Is that their 96 X 24 X 24? Did you get a quote from Aquariums For You?

RBU1 12/28/2007 05:48 AM

KenT. AFY was double the price. In my opinion they are way overpriced.

Red Sea Purple Tang 12/28/2007 06:16 AM

Love the color of the stand. Very nice.

steve the plumb 12/28/2007 09:56 AM

Bill nice to see you got the tank.It looks really nice.I like the top openings and the overflows. He did a nice job on the stand and the canopy. Its nice to have a canopy but the only reason I didn't get one was because of the heat from the lights and having to remove it when trying to get into the tank.I like the look of a canopy better than an open top.The wood is nice he did a very nice job on it.You got a good deal on the tank.Is it 1/2"

RBU1 12/28/2007 10:09 AM

The front, sides and back are 3/4" The top and Bottom are 1/2" He did do a great job on the tank.

i will keep you posted.....BILL

Man o' Man, it's gotta be tough to leave your place to go to work with all that cool stuff sitting there. To say that you're on your way to a beautiful tank is an understatement to say the least. Congratulations on whats sure to be an outstanding system and please keep the pics coming.

Aint that the truth. And you still might need some more. Whew it all adds up quick..

What are the dimensions of your tank Bill?

RBU1 12/28/2007 10:47 AM

Dimensions are 96 x 30 x 24 high....

erics3000 12/28/2007 10:51 AM

Cool. What are you planning for flow and lights? That is a sweet stand too..
love the holes in the bottom.

That's strange, I got a quote from both of them on a tank 72 x 30 x 30 and they were the same.

RBU1 12/28/2007 11:51 AM

KenT....My same aquarium from AFY was over $4000.00. Made the decision of who I was going to use a little easier. Glass cages was the cheapest. I did not want the cheapest so I took the middle person and went with Midwest.

erics

For flow I am doing two closed loops using the bottom holes. I will be using 2 Ocean Motions 4-ways. I am getting a great deal of help from Paul at Oceans Motions on plumbing this tank. For light I will be using 3 - 250 watt pendants from IceCap and 8 - 4' t5's powered by 2 - IceCap 660's.

erics3000 12/28/2007 05:43 PM

I got the same size like yours from GC for a little over 1500 but mine is glass with the 2 viewing panels low iorn. 4k is crazyyyy..

What kinda pumps you using for the closed loops?

RBU1 12/28/2007 07:34 PM

closed loop pumps will be reeflo darts

RBU1 12/30/2007 11:36 AM

Some new pictures.....I added another coat of stain and applied one coat of outdoor poly. As you can see I decided to use a piece of oak plywood on the floor of the stand. Instead of staining it I decided to use a two part epoxy to keep it the light color to make it a little brighter in the cabinet.

RBU1 12/30/2007 02:59 PM

Thank You

steve the plumb 12/30/2007 08:38 PM

very nice stain. Its not to dark and not to light. It looks like a burgundy or mahogany stain.Even like a light red oak.I like the stain color you chose it gives the stand a rich look to it.
