Great build so far! Your stand and canopy look incredible...I wish I had the skills to have built mine like that. I have a Sequence 5800 pump for my closed loop and it is very, very loud. Loud enough that I (well...more my fiance) am debating changing it for something else (If I keep it, she may want to trade me for something else :) ). I was considering the Barracuda but after reading your thread, maybe not... Definitely will be following this build!
I dont think you have anything to worry about. I went to a friends house locally who has the Baracudda running in his living room in an open stand and you can only hear some noise from the fan. But Ill keep you updated. |

Tell him that is too tall. :D 16" is fine, and gives you room to work.
Ive been playing with the measurements and 18" is fine. I want to have that extra water storage. |

I don't see any holes for the CL? I'm assuming they are on the bottom? Or are you strictly using Vortechs?
I am using Vortechs and a Tunze wavebox for flow with no closed loop. Yes the Calfo overflow increases the cost, Since this tank is going against a stairwell I didnt have room for the Calfo. |
Marc,
Your Modified G was 18" right? Remember my stand is 40" tall |
Here is a side shot from inside the stand, The tub is 20 inches wide but the sump will only be 17 so the prop tank will only hang over the back side of the sump by 3 inches or so.

looks like a great start! If you dont mind what did that stand cost you, I am in Arlington and would like to be able to have the stand for my next project made locally if possible.

I've been working on the plumbing today, I temporally mounted the manifold and have been plumbing to the tank.
Nothing is glued and a couple things are crooked(including the camera angle). The yellow tags are to remind me were everything goes I have to go down to the plumbing store tomorrow and pick up some more schedule 80 fittings. |
looks very nice

OMG That is great! I wanna see it in person when it's all done.

Well we should start the sump this week and I am trying to get a Pacific Coast 1/2 HP chiller ordered. Then I think I will be almost ready to move everything the First week of Febuary.
I started mounting the T'5s in the Canopy and will try to finish the Electical work this weekend. I almost forgot, I am thinking of ordering 2 250 MM fans for the canopy. They each push 105 CFM at less then 20 db |

This is a great shot. Can you explain your plumbing here in a little more detail? |
10" fans - wow, that's huge. Are they 110v or 12v?
