Pink Bubble Algae???

Hi, Dr. Ron. I was performing maintenance this weekend and noticed there was a bunch of pink bubble algae on the overflow inside edge. It looked just like Valonia except a very pretty pink color. Sorry, forgot to take a picture. I cleaned them off along with some other grunge. I can't find any mention of this in the forums so should I be overly concerned?

All my params have been good (1.026 SG, 0 Nitrates/Nitrites/Ammonia/PO4, 10.2 Kh, 8.0-8.2 Ph, 400 Calcium, 79-81 Temp) and I'm running a plenum refug w/calerpa on a reverse cycle.

Thanks,
Tricia

Hi Tricia,

I wouldn't be overly concerned, you might check out Horge's article in the February [rk] and see if it provides information about your alga.

Good luck! :D

You may have seen bubble algae that was covered in corraline algae. It happens.

Thanks, all. It appears to be the red bubble variety but it still seems rather pink to me. Since it's certainly not a large scale issue, I won't worry. BTW, it doesn't seem to be covered in corraline at all; totally pink. Thanks, though.
