Trouble with overflow on new tank setup.

I just hooked up my return pump on my new tank and turned it on. I have a durso pipe in my overflow and the overflow fills up and then dumps the water down the the pipe all it once. It then fills up to the top of the overflow again and then dumps all the water down the drain again. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

is there a hole in the durso so air pressure can equalize?

Add a piece of airline tubing to the hole in the durso and insure it reaches above the water line of the tank not just the box.

The hole in the top of the dursa pipe is above the water line. Anyone have any idea as to what is going on?

you may have to much flow from your pump, if you have a ball valve installed after your pump perhaps try to restrict its flow a bit. ive seen a few threads with people saying that worked for them. not sure how good it would be for your pump however

enlarge the hole on top of the durso. It is above the waterline isn't it?

If you decide to lessen flow (which I don't personaly think is the problem )lessen it by teeing off the return line and adding a ball or gate valve. . Have thisline run back to the sump. When you wan't to reduce return flow simply open the valve on the return to sump line thus reducing the flow to the return line. This avoids restricting your pump.

can u take a pic of your overflow?

I do not know how to take photos and put them onto the website.

This one worked for me. I had to get it quite a bit larger though.
