long tentacles anemone
 

Are long tentacle anemonies relatively easy to take care of ( like bubble tipped anemone easy)? Can they be put into the sand? Anything that I should know about them before I get them like feeding, I want sexy shrimp to host it, but I have one clown that has no host and two clowns Already hosting a bta. There are also two anemone crabs and I plan to get an anemone shrimp. Will any other of my clowns or anemone crabs/shrimp host it?

As host anemones go, I would say the LTA (Macrodactyla doreensis) is more difficult to keep than a BTA, but less difficult to keep than say H. magnifica or S. gigantea. How large is your tank? You already have a bta in the aquarium, some would advise against mixing these two species. I would say unless you have a large tank, it is a bad idea. The concern is for shedding of toxins between the anemones (allelopathy), actual physical contact isn't necessary for anemones to harm each other.

You asked if they can be put on the sand, they like to be in a deep sand bed of fine sand (or mud in the wild). Natural symbionts with LTA's are clarkii, pink skunk clown, saddle back clown and in aquaria, maroons. Of course, you mentioned you have 3 clowns already in the tank, to add a clown of a different species would be unwise. You don't mention anything about your lighting system, water flow, size tank, water parameters. As far as feeding, the usual, meaty foods of marine origin such as shrimp, krill, silversides are accepted.

Well, I have T-5 lighting, a Koralia Power head with 600 gallons per hour. Its a 46 gallon tank. Specific Gravity is around 1.023-1.025. The temperature is currently 76 degrees. and the PH is around 8.3.

I have had a bubble tipped anemone and two Haitin Reef Anemonies for about 2 months and they have been OK, so I'm guessing a Long Tentacled Anemone wouldn't hurt. Or would it be a better idea to just buy another bubble tip?

If I did get a long tentacled anemone, would Occelaris Clowns (the ones in my tank) host it, because thats what I'm not hoping for.

I personally wouldn't put an LTA in with the anemones you already have. I'm not saying it can't be done, but I wouldn't.
