Looking to upgrade my nano's lighting

i have stock lighting on my 24g dx jbj nano. i was wondering what my best options are for closed canopy lighting. i found the hqi upgrade for 250 but is that gonna bring out all my coral's color? or are there others that would be a better bet?

I have a sunpod hqi with a 20k bulb and I love it. I know it isnt a closed top but I just thought I would throw it in there.

I dont think you will get a 250 in the hood without BOILING your tank and I cant think of any reason to have that much light over a nanocube, nothing needs to be 3 inches from a 250. Look at http://www.nanotuners.com for their MH kits.

second the nanotuners.com they got some nice upgrades if you want to keep it stock looking. plus they have great customer service. but me personally i would get a sunpod and get a glass top it you want it closed on top.

mark the price is 250 not the watts. its a 150watt closure, 14k bulb. heres the link if that helps http://www.bluewatercorals.com/24gnacuhqica.html

anyways ive been looking at nanotuners too but their do it your self hoods are far more expensive. unless i want to hang a pendent but that kinda defeats the purpose of a nanocube closure. i wish they made like a nano cube t5 hood

will that still cook the water? i was thinking if so i could try this product on nanotuners http://www.nanotuners.com/product_info.php?cPath=34&products_id=299&osCsid=0892b23f003a98552fb721ab7ee0b311

I am working with Nanotuners right now on an upgrade for my AP 24. I hightly recommend calling and telling them your needs. They have great suggestions and can really help you pinpoint a solution. I went with their 4, 32 watt compact flourescent upgrade. I agree with wanting to keep the tank hood in place. It makes for a clean look.

on your fluorescent upgrade is it in a hood or is it something ya kinda just set on top of your tank?

ckprax 01/12/2008 12:24 AM

the 4 32Watt upgrade is in the hood if i am not mistaken,i am starting to look into this as well

are you talking about this model: http://www.nanotuners.com/product_info.php?cPath=61&products_id=261&osCsid=2a19640c8142d2b0ed145e87388baae4
if so thats a bit pricey for me, but nice looking. hmm if they're that expensive maybe i will go with the hqi upgrade if it doesnt cook my tank
