Watermelon Chalice Growth and Pics

Got this watermelon frag around the end of Sept. Notice the frag on the disc. This is not a frag plug but is the larger frag disk that are sold.

This pic was taken on Sept. 28th 2007 -

You can see at first there was only really one good defined eye. Now there is 4 with looks like a 5th starting.

As always I'm amazed with your photos :) Not exactly lightning-quick growers though lol... I'm getting about the same with mine.

Thanks Dave and Brent! Yea it grows slow but I am happy that it's LIVING! LOL! I will have my CA Reactor going next week so maybe it will do better.

I had a hard time at first, but I think it may have had something to do with controlling my magnesium. They don't require alot of light. I have mine under 150 20k mh.

Rev please tell us about lighting and placement. Thanks. :)

RevHtree 12/30/2007 11:34 PM

Well when I first got it my lighting was a single 250w HQI pendant. Now it is in a bigger tank and under (2) 250w SE MH's and 220w of VHO.

In both tanks it has been in the sand very front corner. I have since moved it to the sand in the middle and its doing great.

Thanks for the comments folks. :)
