Eat! Brain Coral Eat!

Any tricks to get a Brain Coral to feed ??? I have the T. Jeffreyi species and it never extends those very short tenacles ---- is there anyway to stimulate feeding???? it looks healthy but I have recently seen some monster Brain Corals and the common thing I was told was to feed them shrimp, fish, fish mush etc.

what kind of brain is it?

Use a turkey baster to gently blow some brine shrimp onto the extended tentacles. Be careful not to blow too hard as this may cause the tentacles to retract.

the best way for me to illicit a feeding response from my brains was to turn off the flow and use a small pipet to drizzle some stinky food over it.

Just let the food sit there for a while (you might have to fight off crabs or fish). If any polyps come out, then target them directly.

Try doing this once every couple of days (or as much as possible without overfeeding the tank).

Once you start getting a good feeding response, you'll see the feeder tentacles every time you feed the tank.

Mine started extending it's feeders when I fed the tank but prior to that, I just tried to target feed in the early mornings when I saw it had them out. It took about a month for it to get the hang of eating in the light times.

Mine like to feed about 1 hour after lights out. I use a turkey baster as well....
