so who's going to Indy

who's going to make the Indy swap?

woodywood 04/05/2006 05:50 AM

i might, going to a motorcycle shop in Indy on Sat.

zeppelin 04/05/2006 06:13 AM

I'm there. Setting up a tank.

cfishrun 04/05/2006 07:42 AM

I'm originally from Indy, so I'm planning a trip home this weekend to "see the folks." The swap site looks to be 15-20 min. from their house, so it shouldn't be a problem to stop by for an hour or two. Hope to see some of you there!

Mantis 04/05/2006 09:20 AM

I'll be there.

zeppelin 04/07/2006 04:52 AM

One more day. :) I'm heading out at about 7:30, to arrive about 11:00. Mapquest says its 3 hours and 20 minutes. We can start setting up at 11:00 See ya there. ;)

geo 04/07/2006 07:04 AM

cward 04/07/2006 09:49 AM

I don't think I'll be able to make it..............NOT!!!

zeppelin 04/07/2006 05:02 PM

On the indy forum they are saying the directiuons given by most of the mapping websites are wrong. Here are the directions they suggest from RT 465:

Take I-465 to west side of Indy
Take Airport Expressway East (DO NOT GO TO THE AIRPORT!!!)
Turn right (south) onto Lynhurst.
Go past first stoplight and over overpass bridge
Immediately after the bridge turn left into the school, there will be a fragswap sign.

geo 04/07/2006 06:40 PM

Larry,
do you know if any of the chicago guys are going to make the trip?

zeppelin 04/07/2006 06:57 PM

I posted it on zoosrus, so I know they know about it. Haven't heard for sure anyone is going.

geo 04/07/2006 07:32 PM

woodywood 04/09/2006 12:47 AM

i was a good drive out there. i only bought 2 frags and a refractometer. spent 40.00 in gas and bought from local Cora members.

the swap was not too big but for a first one they did have a what looked like a huge raffle setup. maybe there was 15-20 tables setup and only 10-12 vendors. my numbers might be a little off.

the people there were all nice not "reef snobs". if they do get more vendors lined up i might go next year. heck i might have some frags to sell/trade then

zeppelin 04/09/2006 07:43 AM

It was in the school cafeteria. Nice large place. They did have some nice raffle items including a RR 55 setup, a tunze with single controller, an aqua controller Jr., etc.

There were actually only 3-4 vendors setup. The rest were swappers. Mantis setup a tank, as did cward/geo, donalduglyduck, and underwaterrealms. Started out very slowly. I was worried for awhile. ;) Then, about 1-1 1/2 hours into it, people started showing up. I would think their count was close to 100 or so.

Very friendly group at INDMAS. I think once the buzz gets out on how this one went, it will be bigger next year. They are definitely on the right track.

cward 04/09/2006 08:10 AM

Very nice people in Indy. 100 might be stretching it a bit, but it was good for their first swap.
The raffle was awesome...........even if I didn't win.

Mantis 04/09/2006 01:08 PM

Yea, I liked the raffle, I actually won something for a change :D

NaH20 04/09/2006 06:21 PM

Thanks so much for you guys that made the drive out, and thanks Zeppelin for coming out and setting up!

We were very pleased with the way our first frag-swap and raffle went...and learned some things to make it even better next year! We did see just about 100 attendees (96 or 98, something around there), as we were keeping track of the tickets attendees received at entry.

Mantis - thanks for the frags!

Hope to see you all again in Sept at the CORA swap.

I would have like to be able to go. But work and paying the bills comes first:)

geo 04/10/2006 06:50 AM

They had a very nice raffle. Great job on the swap too. They will only get larger :). For a first time swap that was awsome ...
