I decided to upgrade the skimmer and sump i made, I would like to make a skimmer from 4 inch PVC pipe. I would like to have a window of clear acrylic on the PVC . Is this possible will acrylic solvent work or PVC cement gluing the acrylic to the pvc pipe?

the IPS website has a spreadsheet for cross linking plastics, they say to use weld on 16,40,or 42 for pvc to acrylic bonding.i like to use WO 40 for pvc to acrylic.

do a search for local plastic suppliers in you area,or plastic fab shops.one of them should have it or can get it.

thanks for the link. that table is very helpful.

does WO #40 fill gaps well? i've been looking for some #16 to connect an inverted floor drain to a segment of PVC pipe (in a RandyStacyE type skimmer). the fit is loose and there will be some gaps that need to be filled. I've been having trouble finding #16.

i was at a plumbing supply house today and noticed that they carry weld-on stuff there. i was looking for #16. they didn't have it, but they did have #40. so if the plastics houses don't have it, the plumbing supply stores might.

not too far from you: Leep's plumbing supply, on Taft Street just north of US 30 in Merrillville. Its kind of hard to find. Its across from Meijer & Art Hill Ford on 30, on the north side of the street behind the Michelin tire dealer. its a long white building and of course, there are no signs. the south side of the building is a showroom, go to the north side of the building for the parts counter.
