Which side does the Bulkhead O ring go?

which side does the Bulkhead O ring go ????? In the tank? or Outside of the tank? I can't remember.

poppin_fresh 12/09/2007 02:45 PM

IN the tank. I wont do anything on the outside.

mm949 12/09/2007 04:55 PM

outside...i wont do anything inside.... it really makes no diff.....just make sure the gasket is on the flange side......i find if u ever have to dissassemble the plumbing u wont have to replace the bulkhead....

yellowwatchmen 12/09/2007 05:34 PM

Mine is in the inside,

Pmolan 12/09/2007 05:50 PM

If it's not on the inside, water will get through the threads.

It makes a big difference. The gasket ALWAYS goes on wet side.

AquaReeferMan 12/09/2007 09:28 PM

The o-ring goes on inside part of the tank.

AZDesertRat 12/09/2007 09:51 PM

OK. Listen up....... It does not make a hill of beans if it is on the inside or outside...AS LONG AS IT IS ON THE FLANGE SIDE, no matter where the flange is. Once again from the top....The gasket ALWAYS goes next to the flange.

Do not use any silicone or tape or libricants as it can cause the gasket to scoot or squeeze out and leak. Tighten hand tight then maybe 1/4 turn more, no more than that. Never support any piping or pumps with a bulkhead, suspend or brace them with something so they do not stress the bulkhead and cause it to leak or crack.

poppin_fresh 12/09/2007 10:05 PM

ive never seen bulheads with the flange outside the tank... do they make them?

virginiadiver69 12/09/2007 10:54 PM

Okay then...why would the flange NOT be on the inside of the tank.

AZDesertRat 12/09/2007 11:19 PM

You can turn it either direction, it does not matter. Space restrictions are one reason. Its not common but I have seen it.

poppin_fresh 12/10/2007 12:25 PM

Hmmm.. I guess it never occurred to me to use a bulkhead upside down.

raskal311 12/10/2007 12:29 PM

I agree with AZDesertRat 100% I install bulkheads with the flange on the outside all the time.

I agree...inside or outside as long as it's on the flange side.
