Cotton algae

So about a month ago I got red cotten algae on my trumpet coral. I pulled it out pulled off as much as I could. when I put it back in the tank the hermit crabs were all over it, so I figured great maybe they will eat it. Now it is back as strong as ever. Luckily its secluded on the one piece of coral and i set it away from everything else....any suggestions to get rid of this stuff?

I have seen it reported here on RC, and I have seen it in my own tank, that turbo snails will eat the cotton candy looking algae. IME
