Can someone give me an ID on this???

These appeared on the side of my tank this morning. Can anyone tell me what they are. They look like eggs, as you look real close and they are little individual round things. But what might have laid them? Just has got my curiosity going.

if so they are snail eggs.

Try it again

So probably a stupid question, but is there any way to help them actually hatch, or will they just become food . Also are baby snails born with their own shell and grow their own as they mature?

Some may live, most become food. They make their own shell. This reminds me, I need to go buy some snails.

Do you have any Nerite snails? Mine leave eggs all over the place, little more than 1/16" across, but they never hatch out. From what I have found online, they never actually hatch, so wasted effort on their part.

I don't have any nerite snails that I know of. Not sure what kind these are but are different. We will see what happens, as it looks like I may be the proud parent of 1000 or so newborns. Anone know how long the cycle is before any survivors hatch?

could be Cerith eggs.....keep an eye on them. If they are the right kind, you will have a bunch of babies soon. If they are pelagic lavae, they will probably become fish/coral food.
