I have tried ,brine, mysis, bloodworms, clam, nori, flake all soaked with garlic. Any tips or suggestions? As far as tak size, its a 150 with about 250 to 300 lbs of live rock.

I havent had any experience with this fish but i do know it is a difficult fish to keep. You could try feeding Mussels squid or spinach.

I would recommend just trying out with small peices first and then carry on from there

Oh I love this fish!!!! I had one for about a year. Mine especially liked Live Brine. Also algea on clip liked to nip at. Good luck!!

pontiac 01/01/2008 07:55 PM

Thanks, I am hatching brine as we speak!

A friend of mine has one and the fish eats everything, flake pellets mysis, and nips at corals regularly.

pontiac 01/01/2008 08:20 PM

Mine just seems to be more interested in picking the rock, constantly, so far its belly looks to be full, not sunk in or anything.

scotmc 01/01/2008 08:40 PM

pontiac, where did you get that fish?

pontiac 01/01/2008 09:34 PM

That fish place in pa, it was eating flake before i got it.

iv had one of these before. farily easy IME, ate mysis, formula 1, and pelets, also grazed on the rocks for w/e it could find. ate like a pig. he also ate silverside peices when i put it in there for my lionfish. be careful though becuase he did eat my beutiful neon green feather duster as well, i watched him do it... :/ hardy fish IME, some books say other wise. Mine also hid for the first 2 days and didnt eat anything i offered him either.

pontiac 01/01/2008 09:46 PM

Yea, mine is just picking rock like there's no tommorow. I will get some silversides after work and try em.

pontiac 01/03/2008 09:18 PM

Well, finally got her to eat tonight, eating mysis and angel formula, and acts like its been there as long as everyone else! Ay one point it was eating mysis from my fingers!

Frick-n-Frags 01/04/2008 08:40 AM

In my FO days I had one. It jumped right in with the gang after a couple rounds of feeding. It ate everything
I also had a royal gramma and a batfish, so nobody was picky. i think the batfish would have eaten a ciggy butt if I hand fed it to him. total pet pig.

If I knew the degree of reefsafeness of one of those, I wouldn't hesitate on getting another because it was a hardy fish.

pontiac 01/04/2008 09:25 PM

I have read they are coral pickers, but I will try and see what happens. If it is a picker, i'll move it to the new 75gal a guy at work gave me.
