frogspawn positioning? help!!
 

I just bought this frogspawn. In the pic you can see two branches on top, 1 of them dead. There is another branch on the opposite end that is buried in the sand. What is the best way to position it for optimal growth? Will the dead end thats buried in the sand possibly grow back? Can spread on to the rock?

The part on the bottom looks like it's just the base to me, but maybe I'm not seeing it in the picture. There should be the radial skeleton part on any branch.

It won't grow onto the rock. It's possible the second dead head on the top will come back to life.

You can either put the bottom in a hole in your rock, or use some epoxy to attach the coral to a rock.

The branch on the bottom does indeed look like a base, and give the dead head on the top some time to recover...it may come back, you never know!!!
Just be sure it gets moderate lighting (or acclimate it to full blown high intensity light if you have that), and moderate flow, in that it gets just enough to make the tentacles sway a little.

Get some reef putty, read instructions, stick a wad onto a dry bit of old coral [ask your lfs] and [out of the water] to make a small stand-up base for this guy. [an old coral fork would be great.] Then just stand it in the middle of the sand for starters. Raise it as it gets used to your light. Ultimately it has no trouble being 18 inches from a 250w mh bulb. You'll probably have to use a dremel or hacksaw to take that dead head off, but again, it will probably grow many heads and cover that unsightly bit in short order if happy.

Here is a pic of the bottom, is it dead? Is there anything I should do??? it doesnt look that good...will it be okay buried in the sand??

yeah that is indeed just the base, stick it to some holes in the live rock. yeah i think it should be ok to bury it in the sand just not too much but sticking it into some hole in the liverock is best. gl
