phoshate control blue life good or bad
 

This is probably for Randy, What do you think about the liquid phoshate control do you have pros or cons

lanthium based product.. same as most of the liquid po4 removers

basicaly precipitates teh po4 and you hope you suck it out during water change or it gets caught in skimmer or filter pad
( add a few drops to tap water shake and wait a few minutes.. it shows as a whote cloud htat will fall to the bottom fast
you can get this cheeper at a pool supply store altho you may want to double check as alot of pool supplys add other chemicals as well that could harm your tank

My preference for phosphate reduction is to actually take it out, as opposed to leaving the precipitated phosphate in the tank the way liquid binders can. I'm also not sure what negative impacts there might be from elevated lanthanum in the water, which is what I think the product is.

That said, some folks do use the liquid binders with little apparent problems.

GFO is my preference.

Thanks guys. My tank is large 800 gallons total volume. I will stay with GFO.
Seems to me in this hobby there is not a quick fix for anything and leaving impurities in the water if not a needed element does not seem like a good idea.

If you can afford to go with GFO, I would. :)
