You just keep getting more and more toys. What's the next item you'll get?

Maybe the profilux controller...

Hey Marc I am now considering turning the Pump and putting a 90 elbow in the feed line. I could put in a much larger sump that way.

Chrisrush 12/13/2007 10:27 AM

Aaron,
Here is how I have my Profilux mounted in my stand.

That would be my choice as well, as long as the feed line to the pump is large enough to overcome any restriction.

If your return pump has a 1.5" intake, and since your sump hasn't even been built yet, why not just go with a 2" bulkhead and plumbing up to the pump? It'll cost you more for the bulkhead, single union ball valve, and strainer, but you'll never have to worry about it after that.

Would you orient the pump to it vents heat toward the front of the stand or out the back? Toward the front puts the plumbing toward the rear of the stand; toward the front puts the plumbing in the way unfortunately.

That looks very nice chris...
I havent decided how Im going to mount mine yet. It sounds like they are out of them until January anyways.

Chrisrush 12/13/2007 10:45 PM

That is surprising. Who did you go through to try and find one? I think that Aquarium Specialty has them in stock

That's a very nice gesture. I wish we had that support in Dallas. There may be a move to Austin in my future, just depending on where my wife wants to work.

Headless_donkey 12/15/2007 12:17 AM

That manifold is great! That is going to look super tough and be easy to make adjustments. BTW did you use the gray glue?

I have a sequence snapper and it makes very little noise. I to agree adding water will make a big difference.

I had to chime even though this has already been discussed.

I also try to order from local shops I think it makes up for the countless free questions they answer. Plus some of the Austin shops are cheaper then the internet.

Today I worked on the stand some more, I got the prop tank shelf built, This will hold a 28X8X9 prop tank with 2 24w T5s for light. You can see the reflectors in the picture. The blue tub was a trial fit for a sump. Im going to have to go 3 inches narrower then the blue tub but other then that its the same size.

Tomorrow I will go get some mounts for the manifold. Then I can temp mount it and figure out how Im going to plumb it.

The sump design is under way now. I finally know whats going to be the best fit so now I can start.

I highly recomend A.G.E. tanks. The build quality is second to none!

When do you get the new sump?

Hey your alive!!!!

Brian is going to start on the sump next week but wont be done until week of Christmas.

bmwaaron 12/16/2007 01:27 AM

The new sump will be 41" long, 17" deep and 18" high

melev 12/16/2007 01:38 AM

Tell him that is too tall. :D 16" is fine, and gives you room to work.

justinpsmith 12/16/2007 02:03 AM

Great build so far! Your stand and canopy look incredible...I wish I had the skills to have built mine like that.

I have a Sequence 5800 pump for my closed loop and it is very, very loud. Loud enough that I (well...more my fiance) am debating changing it for something else (If I keep it, she may want to trade me for something else :) ). I was considering the Barracuda but after reading your thread, maybe not...

Definitely will be following this build!

tcmfish 12/16/2007 02:44 AM

Lookin good I like the idea of the lil frag tank cool idea. Keep up the good work.

I don't see any holes for the CL? I'm assuming they are on the bottom? Or are you strictly using Vortechs? How much did AGE charge for the build (if you don't mind me asking)? I'm looking to build something very similar in the near future, except with an external horizontal C2C (Calfo-style) overflow. I'm sure they will charge me a hefty markup for the 1.5" cutout in the side glass.

Thanks!
