New Power heads needed

Hello All,

I currently have two Maxi jet 1200's (295 gph) on my 75 oceanic ran by a red sea wavemaker. The main return pump is a Iwaki WMD-40RLT (750 Gph at 4' head)

I have a recurring problem of the suction cups not staying put and the Maxi Jets running a muck with their random flow into SPS, the sand etc.

For a 75 SPS what would be the best option,

1.Upgrade the 1200 Maxi Jet to Algae Free Sure Flow 1600's

Add the Sure Grip 100 Magnet

2. Or would a better option be the Tunze Nano Stream 6025 (660 gph)
One on each side of the tank.

I appreciate the assistance!

The maxi's have a clip that you can attach that hangs onto the rim of the tank. I did that with my 1200 for the same reason. It's a cheap solution in my opinion. Obviously it doesn't work if you need your powerhead lower than about 8 inches from the surface.

That upgrade kit is something I have wanted to try as well. I might try it for a maxi 600 first since I have a 55 gallon tank.

The only problem I foresee with the upgrade of the 1200 is that the wavemaker on-off action might cause the direction of current flow to redirect.

Tunze spec for the 6025 nano stream says its for aquariums rated up to 53 gals? In comparison tho, the upgrade of each 1200 will cost me around $50 per power head any way, 35 for the magnet and 15 for the sure flo.

Im probably just going to go with the NanoStreams. 365 more GPH for 13W less power consumption. Sounds good to me.

I like the modded 6025

i just put a nano koralia in my 5.5

it flows 240 gph and is only 2.5x 2.5 so it doesen't take up a ton of space

the flow pattern is better than any direct flow PH out there, and after seeing how rediculous this little pump is for the 30.00 price

The Koralia's or the Tunze are all i would ever use for a powerhead again, direct flow is a no go :]]

I've been coming across many posts where people are recommending this mod.

well you would get a ton more flow out of the Maximod.
