Leak test = SUCCESS!
 

I filled my tank tonight and leak tested it - everything went perfect. WHEW! I was a bit nervous about my plumbing design and whether the sump would hold the drainback water when the pump went off - but I have plenty of room.

My plumbing didn't turn out quite like I expected - but that's not necessarily bad. My plan was for my Ocean Runner 6500 to feed one return, my fuge, phosban, UV and a recirc line to get rid of back pressure. I have an OR 3500 that I was going to use for the 2nd return and also have a recirc line off of it. But once I got it all put together, I realized that my UV and phosban reactor could feed my fuge - then I can run both returns off of the one pump. And I don't even need to crack open the valve for the recirc line. So now I have a spare 3500 in case the 6500 croaks someday. I didn't WANT to go with a single pump as I was going to do 2 and run them on different circuits in case one circuit pops, but maybe I'll just get a UPS for it to cover temporary outages.

My AGA overflows are absolutely silent - no gurgling at all. My pump is silent - just a slight hum which I anticipated.

The only thing I'm seeing/hearing is that the drain lines don't completely fill with water - they end up with air in them - and they stay that way. Air pushes out into the sump, but more comes down the line. Is that normal? Is there a way to get rid of that?

Oh - and the stainless hose clamps in these pics aren't permanent. I've got plastic ones coming from DFS on Tuesday.

Now I'm going to drain the tank and then tomorrow fill it with RO/DI and salt. Guess that means I can order my live rock tomorrow or Tuesday too!

...holy crap does it take forever to fill a tank with RO/DI...

Started around 9 this morning with my sump - about 15g and 5 hours later, the fuge JUST finished filling and now it's filling the pump chamber. I guess if I want to be able to order my rock for Thurs, I'd better let the tank fill overnight.

I can't imagine how long it must have taken for some of you guys with bigger tanks!

5 days... it was killer.

5 LOOOOOONG days, I'm sure! I'm just glad that everything was OK with my plumbing. I'm on "vacation" all this week and I'd be really ticked if something had kept me from getting my rock during my week off!

it took me 3 days of filling my 125 and 100gal sump and 20 fuge (soon to me a 40 stock tank) off a 100 gpd unit

If I'd been thinking I would have had my 37g Brute filled and ready to go. :(

I prefilled 2 brute cans. it helped, but still only looked like a drop in the tank.
