What would you do with a 75g?

Well, Yesterday I picked up a 75 gallon from a Local pet store (i wouldnt call em a lfs, more of an everything pet store) for a grand total of...DUM DUM DUM $9.47 after taxes. I guess they were replacing their old tanks with new ones, and I asked at the exact right time ><, anyway, its already predrilled with a durso pipe.

Since I dont need another sump for my 125, I am at a loss at what to do with it, I was thinkin doing another FO tank, maybe a snowflake and a lion, but Id like to see what other people would do or any suggestions on something that would be different than the norm.

I'd make it a mini version of a big predator tank. Not sure if this is overload, but this is the stock list I'd consider:

green wolf eel blenny
dwarf fuzzy lionfish or similar sized small-medium lionfish
marine betta
dwarf angel
radiant wrasse

plenty of live rock, sand bed (enough for the wrasse), good HOB skimmer (Remora Pro, double Bakpak, Octopus), macro in tank and if you can swing it, a HOB refugium for nutrient export.

1 large cool eel. I see your a college student so cheaper is better..less touchy water needs and fun for you and friends to feed.

I assume you have to break tank down from time to time for college moves. Again, moray is best suited..Lions sting and are hard to handle come move time.

If you want fish for activity..add damsels. Cheap, colorful, hardy. And potential food itmes for the eel.

I would do a reef, 75 make good reef tanks or do it combo reef and fish.I have been a pedator nut for many years but now I am enjoying smaller reef fish like anthias,gobies,blennies,hawkfish,etc..Plus you never have to worry about them outgrowing your tank.If you have the budget for it a mystery wrasse is a very cool small fish as are other wrasses. Goodluck and that was an amazing deal on the tank.

Keep it simple. 80-100lbs of Live rock. A zebra or snowflake moray with a dwarf line and porc puffer.
