Stocking numbers

I'd like some input on what's the reasonable number of inches of fish per gal.? Seems like I've read somewhere around 2"?

Yeh I've heard about 2 inches of fish per Gal but you might want to stock a little bit lighter if you plan on keeping sps or corals that demand low nutrient levels. Happy Reefing

I think this stocking applies to the main tank. Not the overall volume of water. I have 90g total. I think over crowding is the issue.
