Dang, the RRC is getting dissed by Mr. 294! No love for his homies.

But other than that, the tank looks cool. I like your light hanging method, though I'm surprised you couldn't find a more aesthetically pleasing bracket.

Good call on the cord concealers, I've got 'em throughout my place as well (tv, computers, stereo, etc . . .)

Looking forward to seeing some life in there!

None of the aesthetically pleasing brackets were long enough to center the fixture over the tank :(

Oh, man . . . you need to call into MTV and see if they'll "Pimp Your Brackets"

Nice, I see some snails in there. I'm glad to see you decided to put in a shallow sand bed. How many powerheads are you going to put in there?

mr294 11/27/2007 10:36 PM

Going to try and get away with one koralia 4 or one modded nanostream at first, although I'm sure I'm going to have to add at least one more once things start growing in. Considered the vortech, but there are some other things I would like to get first.

I've noticed that the wisest reefers choose 55s, good choice. It really helps to tie the room together, dude.

mr294 12/09/2007 10:14 PM

New fish

J. Montgomery 12/09/2007 10:33 PM

You're quite the nonconformist!

Thats an awesome looking (pipe?)fish. I think he's spotted that Cyclopeeze and he's going in for the kill.

mr294 12/09/2007 10:50 PM

Thats exactly whats happening. He eats frozen like a champ so far.

surfnvb7 12/09/2007 10:57 PM

he looks really good, pipe fish don't mind the strong flow of sps type tanks?

btw....i see that nice deepwater up there. ;)

so if marv got 4 in, and kept one, i guess that means the other 3 local owners are you, me, and twon. don't we all feel special! ;)

It's not going to be quite as high flow as my last SPS dominated tank, but from what I've read the banded pipes adapt really well to a reef tank environment if you can get them eating.

I can't wait to see that frag grown out. Judging from naka's pics, it should be a pretty fast grower

surfnvb7 12/09/2007 11:09 PM

what are you plans for future fish stocking?

Pair of sunburst anthias for sure, and I want to try my hand at a trio of ventralis as well. I've never kept ventralis before, and I know their reputation; but I want to try them just once. Other than that I'm not sure. Maybe a hooded fairy pair or a flame wrasse pair, if I'm feeling brave (aka stupid) with the open top. :D

Neptune777 12/10/2007 08:08 AM

Brandon,
That Pipe Fish was awesome! Hope he does well for you.

i've been making some nice screen like tops to prevent fish from jumping out. they are for sale up at atlanitis if your interested. just give me or marvin the exact demensions of your tank, or the size and manufacturer.
