Effluent PH taking a while to lower/Schuran

Guys I have a dual chamber rx. In my first chamger I changed from ARM to schuran nedia and in my 2nd chamber I have ARM. It seems to be taking a while for me to get my effluent PH doen to 6.5. I changed this out yesterday and today I am at 7.1. My C02 is going at a bubble per sec. What should I increase and how should I proceed?

Anyone?

It's been day 2. I have calibrated my PH monitor and my Ph probe is new. I can't bring my ph down. However perhaps my tank ph is too high. I dosed to bring my ph up. At night the tank ph is 8.2 - 8.3 witht the lights off. My ALK is between 8-9. I am going to do a water change. It's almost like my C02 is having no effect on the ph of the effluent. I am running a little over a bubble a sec on the C02 and the same for the effluent drip.

The schuran media has far less surface area due to the larger pieces; I guess this is to keep flow in the reactor going. It's probably going to take more CO2 than you're used to using to get the ph down. Plus, if you're then pushing the effluent through a tube of ARM, the effluent exiting that tube will have a much higher ph. You mght try two things: 1) test the effluent ph as it exits the first tube, and I bet it's pretty low, and 2) test the dkh of the effluent as it exits the 2nd tube, and I bet it's pretty high. If your tank dkh is 8-9 and the ph is nice and high, what's the worry?
