Haddoni Anemone Care
 

Im getting one of these from a fellow reefer next saturday that is local to me below is a link to the actual speciman and I was wanting to know if anyone out there could give me some tricks or tipps for keeping on of these? A little about my system its a 180 reef that is running around 300 gallons of total water volume including my multiple sumps. Im running 3x250 mh's with 8x54watt t'5s so I dont think lighting will be an issue. The system has been running since April of 07 & all its contents were transfered from a 75 that was set up for around 6 years with the exception of the extra live rock and corals of course. Thanks for any input you may have in advance.

I don't think that you will have a problem but be warned, they will eat you aquarium fish if they get to close (clowns included). My suggestion would be to find a spot in your tank AWAY from corals and gently move the sand out of the way without cloudy the tank to much. This will allow the anemone a good base (bottom glass) to attach its foot to. If it does not like the area then it will most likely move. How long has your fellow reefer had it for?

To my knowledge hes had it for about a month but his tank is a little to small for the anemone. He was holding it for someone whos tank had sprung a leak & is now getting out of the hobby. That person had it for a good while but I dont know how long.

I have two -- one for 7ish years and the other one for just under a year. I have found that if you have a healthy one to start with they are pretty easy to care for. Think that your lighting will be fine. Mine seem to prefer the rock/sand interface. If you feed them a lot they will grow very fast. In all the time that I've had mine I only lost one fish to them -- about 4 years ago, a yellow watchman goby.

Mine can handle a decent amount of flow -- in an SPS tank, just make sure that it doesn't cause them to fold up over themselves.

Heres mine, Blue for almost 2 years and the Saddles for just a few days. The tank is 150 with (2) 250 MH and (6) 48" VHO and has moderate flow.
