Black and White Clownfish confusion!

Ok,

I'm confused, What's the difference between Black Perculas and black Occelaris? I see pics and they look the same to me.

Also I see some that have orange on the face, I believe i have read those are juveniles? Will they eventually turn completely black or will the orange stay?

Like this one from Liveaquaria says its an adult but still has some orange. I want one that is completely black

I also see some ORA farm raised or usally Australian tank raised much diffrence in the fish?

I always thought black percs were a myth to tell you the truth... The percs would grow smaller. Don't forget many places sell Black Percs but they are really Occelaris.

ok,

So what is with some being all black and some having some orange on them mainly face like the link i have above

Some juvenile black variant A. ocellaris typically have orange faces that they "may" grow out of as they mature. The AU stock seem to fair much better at growing out of any orange or brown they may have.

Don't pay any attention to the common name "black percula", it doesn't correctly refer to any clown fish species.

Thank you sounds like the Aussies are the ones i want then

The ones from Australia tend to have better conformation than the ORA or TropicMarin fish. The best ones I have seen actually come from a breeder here in SoCal who is also on RC named Morgman. I don't know if he has any currently available.

Morgman babies have little to no orange on their face :)

IMO the orange on the B&W seems to be from the quality of the broodstock.

Does morgman sell and ship?

The "Black Percula" is a actually what most of us call clownfish folks call "Onyx" or close to "Onyx" markings. One of the Los Angeles wholesalers call their perculas with excessive black a "Black Percula." That is maybe where some of the confusion comes from. The LFS takes these clowns and calls them "Black Percula" too by default. When in reality they are just perculas with more black than a typical percula or close to "Onyx."

That is one of my theories at least. Not sure if that is the whole truth. Hope that make sense?
