it doubled in size in a few months...

Creetin 01/01/2008 08:56 PM

Mt tyree soli does very well for me. I turn it every 6-8 mos to get it to sprout out new tables. :) This pic is a couple mos old.
Very cool to manipulate its growth, I want to have as many table shelfs on it as i possably can.

Murphreef,

I cannot get my Hyacinthus to color up. Where do you have it placed in your tank?

twon8 01/01/2008 11:04 PM

ive got a maricultured soli that has grown very well for me, ive had it for about two years and it is now over a foot across and has encrusting like mad.

also have an efflo i grew out from a frag

ive got a blue mille that tables, grows super fast.

i've had pretty good luck with my northstarcorals pink clathrata.
i really miss the gems that bill bramucci used to sell back then :(. acquired as a 1" frag in 10/2003 and have nearly lost it a couple times. under 10k, it goes bright red with baby blue tips. right now its under 12k's and is turning a dark pink/red.

[B]Murphreef,

hey u know i have actually had it down low where i first started it as a small wild coral that i had no idea would table it did fine there but i was running out of room b4 it was guna start hitting the front glass so i was brave and moved it to the other side of the tank and about 1/2 way up in the tank its directly under one of my phoenix 250W 14K HQI bulbs and it never stressed or changed it liked either place i had it.... at least now i can continue to keep watching it grow further out....

Craig Lambert 01/02/2008 03:42 PM

Nice shots!

tfp...that clathrata is nice! How big is it after 4 years?

tfp 01/02/2008 04:49 PM

sadly, its only about 4" in diameter as its been thru quite a bit. i've fragged it a few times and the frags seem to do well. i've got another small colony of it going in my tank too.

Canarygirl 01/02/2008 06:03 PM

Twon, that's a beautiful blue millie you have there. Is that the Palmer's Blue Millie? I have a little frag of that one.

trottman 01/02/2008 06:36 PM

is mine a table or no?

KEEPERZ 01/02/2008 06:40 PM

Craig Lambert go to L.A. and look at there Aquacultured Corals and then go to Acropora Corals, Captive-Grown (all) and theres a Blue Mesa Acropora Coral (Acropora hyacinthus) for 39.99. i bought one and its wonderfull. it has a tan colerd base with vibrent blue tips. the polyops are awsome and this thing is a tank, (verry hardy) and grows well with good cal. .

Looks like a table to me. Similar to my Desalwii or a Plana. Both Crayola Tables.

Here is mine:

volivier 01/05/2008 07:43 PM

very very nice! I hope to copy your beautiful corals at home myself. Where do you buy your corals? A good supplier is so important. Or do you buy from fellow reefers? I ask, because I need to purchase some myself. :)

Oldude 01/05/2008 09:10 PM

this coral isn't the fanciest but has lived through one crisis after another and seems to be bullet proof so I guess that makes it my most successful table. ;)
