In between marine warehouse and FAOIS? o boy... good luck

NanoManMaster 10/17/2007 08:19 PM

well i herd its gonna be around as big as marine warehouse. but the hole thing is pretty much live stock not much dry goods. there will be some but overwelmingly live stock. U know those blue coral tubs at marine ware house i think i herd they will have like 10 or 12 devoted to corals. um and a huge fish system maby 4 or 5 times larger than faois. and all ocral lit by solaris

Doug864 10/17/2007 08:58 PM

Another one opening on 54 between little rd. and gunn highway.
I see them working in there but don't know when it opens.

Doug

Yeah i herd that it's gonna be FINZ of Oldsmar. Ron's gonna be running the old location while chris concentrates on the new store.

NanoManMaster 10/17/2007 09:24 PM

no its gonna be called the coral corral

mattliu 10/17/2007 09:37 PM

oooooooooooo, now i get the whole sheep thing.

kirdes 10/17/2007 10:08 PM

I heard Finz is shutting down their old store on Dale Mabry. I also heard and seen the results of thier crappy service they have completed on customer tanks, so Finz reputation is badly damaged in the professional community.....what a shame!

BillyFSU 10/17/2007 10:20 PM

I saw a friend of a friend's tank FINZ setup. Very expensive, very bad results. Massive coral and fish dieoff.

LOL!
I swear I can remember learning grammar in school.......maybe times have changed.

I too saw the new store on 54 in Land o lakes / NPR. Not sure what that is all about.

MikeBrke 10/18/2007 09:50 AM

You mentioned they will have the blue tubs like at Marine Warehouse. Maybe it is just me bit I hate those things! The reason is because you are looking at the corals top down. I want to see the coral how it is going to look in my tank, not as if I am staring down on it. Maybe it is just me but I like it better when you are looking at the corals straight on.

NanoManMaster 10/18/2007 12:26 PM

the main reason they have those is because they are goin to propigate coral and itll make it easier for them

mattliu 10/18/2007 01:01 PM

ron and chris never mentioned anything about propagating to me. are you sure about that ? retail space is best utilized for selling not growing.

WarDaddy 10/18/2007 01:07 PM

eesh, this thread is confusing...

Which of the 2 stores mentions are you guys talking about?

I am interested in the one on 54...what is that about?

Doug864 10/18/2007 01:26 PM

The store on 54 is called Mystic Marine Life 727-375-5636
I drove by last night and it looks like they are still working on setting it up.

Doug

So the corals in the bins will not be for sale since they are being grown out for fragging? Like Matt alluded to I thought that this was going to be a retail store?

Sounds like a well thought out plan....ROFL!

mflamb 10/18/2007 02:19 PM

Corals look "best" from the top under 14K-20K lighting. That's why the store is being setup that way. I think trigger originally posted the idea on the last thread about this store, that I agree, I want to see what the corals look like from the side, since I have a side view tank, not a top view tank.

WarDaddy 10/18/2007 02:19 PM

he can't do both? If he has the square footage, why not.

Go and collect some great frags and start growing them out, might not be the most cost effective thing to do with his square footage, but it would be an interesting twist to the same ol store thing.

But to see them that way you need little to no surface movement.

Hard to do in an SPS tank that has 40x turnover :)

Huh, more explanation required.

WarDaddy 10/18/2007 03:28 PM

If you have a tank for top down viewing, that has a lot of surface movement, you can not see the corals, the view is distorted.

In my tanks when I have lots of movement, I can not get a good view top down without shutting down pumps

Don Lino 10/18/2007 05:25 PM

If u guys want a side view of the coral, just take them out the tank and look at them... :D
