How do you rinse sand?

How does everyone rinse sand? I always just put it in a bucket, and used the water hose to wahs it off, but a lot always gets dumped out...any suggestions?

I never bothered rinsing it and never had a problem.

Well I wouldn't, but I just hate waiting for the water to clear...lol.

Big rubbermaid tube and about 10 lbs at a time with a garden hose in the yard.

But how do I drain the water without having all the sand dump out?

Do this little trick. Put the sand in the tank then cover it with a trash bag. After that just pump the water in on top of the bag.

Here is my tank with the water going in and a shot later that same day. As you can see there is no sand storm.

But there isn't any dust later on? Looks like a good idea...

Nope, none at all.

I've rinsed enough sand to realize that it's not just dust from sand in there. There are twigs, leaves, and dirt in those bags from Carib Sea, if you don't mind that stuff then go for Dubbin's idea.

I used the trash bag method as well and it worked nicely. Just make sure the bag is not sold with insect repellent on it :).
