Sir_DudeGuy

what kind of coral is this?

[IMG][/IMG]

pasenah 06/27/2007 08:53 AM

its a sarcophyton , toadstall leather

sir_dudeguy 06/27/2007 03:28 PM

ya, like pasenah said, just a regular toadstool. Its not open all the way in the middle usually cuz the clowns sit right there...or just underneath it lol.

uclajay 06/29/2007 02:02 PM

bassett, what is that big softie in the shown in the side view?

pasenah 06/29/2007 02:31 PM

yeh its a lovely piece, i think its a sinularia but not totaly sure, hopefully bassett will confirm.

Echidna09 06/29/2007 02:35 PM

Bassett- Nice tank, diggin the longnose and the sailfin. Cool anenome too. Can you post a close up of that little clam on the right side? He looks neato

bassettmd 06/30/2007 12:18 AM

It is a sinularia... but there is also a long polyp sarcophyton in that picture as well. I will get some more pics here in a few days but this one will have to do for now... it is my newest full tank shot (added a frogspawn, squamosa clam, and a yellow fiji leather). I have three clams in the tank total now: gigas, squamosa, and a derasa (all i need now is a maxima and a crocea to complete the collection). Thanks for the compliments.

WHATS the nice red anemone?I want one....

bassettmd 07/03/2007 09:21 AM

Its an Aquacultured Rose Bubble Tip Anemone (RBTA)... they are very hardy and very beautiful. But they can also be difficult to find, especially at the right price

rob28 07/03/2007 09:57 AM

I thought it may be,But not seeing the tips bubbled i wasn't sure....Ive been trying to get one from lfs but may have to hunt online for him....VERY nice tank...

bassettmd 07/03/2007 12:13 PM

If you can I would find one local. Before i bought this one i ordered one from an online source and it was a GBTA that was dyed red... I have been told and seen that these anemones are captured and dyed very frequently in order to catch that higer $$$. Buy one local and buy one aquacultured... it may take a little bit longer but it is well worth it in the end! Thanks for the compliment!

"pimp'in"
