I got these two new corals... Any ID or name would be greatly appreciated. Colors were hard to capture but I tried to photoshop the images so they would truly reflect the corals colors. Images were taken under T5's, but the aqua in the first image is "TRULY" aqua even under regular light.

First one is an aqua with baby blue tips

Second one is a dark green with blue leading to white tips.

2. formosa?

thanks for the reply... I believe you are correct on the first one...

Your first one appears to be A. samoensis. It is not A. gemmifera, which has different radials, more orderly and cut-off at an angle.

The second may be any of a variety of staghorn types. Formosa, grandis, nobilis. Very attractive colouring.

It does look more like the samoensis... I guess only way to find out is through time...

The coloring on both of them are subtle but extremely unique. And as I have said before the aqua on the first one is truly aqua and NOT the lighting.

Anyway, I saw what may also be A. samoensis in a LFS last week with the same colouring, but somewhat bluer on the tips. I may just have to go back and get it.

Oh its slightly more blue in person but it was hard to capture hte coral because the coloration was similar to my t5 lightings...

No I'm still up.. Got another 6-7 hrs more to go! ;)

look carefully at the radials. On A. gemmifera they are truly aligned in rows and of uniform size with flat, at an angle, polyp tips. On A. samoensis, there is less alignment of the corallites, they are rounder at the tips and one does see mixed sized corallites.

Admittedly, the foto is not as clear as required, but I see different sized corallites, which you never see with A. gemmifera. Also, the A. gemmiferas I've had always had more space between the corallites.

The first coral does have different size corallites and are not "perfectly" aligned in rows or any distinct pattern--thats why I got it... ;)

Ok, I definantly would like some growth shots after a few months though.
