seahorse identification

I caught a pair in about 15 feet of water here in Hawaii....they are very hardy and have been living in a nano cube for 6 months now....eating live brine and opae...(live glass shrimp) male has gotten pregnant twice now....I think it is a hippocampus kuda but my friend said its not...they are rather large at 6" spanning from head to tail....any seahorse experts???

I'm thinking Kuda. Based on size, location, and coronet.

As far as I know there are only a few species of seahorses that live in and around Hawaii and this one resembles only Kuda out of those.

Not the best at ID, but pretty confident.

If you can get them to eat frozen mysis you'll save yourself some cash in the long run.

HTH

Your screen name sounds real familiar, do you have a store on island?
