night feeding?
 

i feed my tank mysis brine and cyclopeeze everynight around 7pm. I've been trying to spot feed a few acans I've aquired. There's a whole process of stimulating them to open up and extend their tentacles. At night however, they're way open!

Should I add a dab of cyclopeeze to the water on the nights I'm up late?

I've target fed certain things at night if required. I use a "Seasquirt" turkey baster type device.

I target feed at night 1 or 2 times a week.

I don't have any set schedule for feeding at night, however I do feed as much as I can during lights out. Every acan I own extends its tentacles after lights out.

Do you turn off your pumps when you feed at night?

I'm thinking my caulustrea could use some feeding.

I feed about 1/2 an hour after lights go out a couple times per week. Just shut off the return pump and let the internal pumps flow water for about a half hour.

I usually feed my umbrella mushroom and platygyra at night. The platy extends his feeders at night. I usually shut off all my pumps for about 30 seconds before I feed, then leave them off for like 5 or 10 minutes. The hammer gets fed also. If the zoas are open, I'll squirt stuff at them every once in a while too.

what is it that you guys are feeding at night? just cyclopeeze or are larger food stuffs part of the menu?

I just feed cyclopeeze along with things like phyotoplankton or "coral food" can't think of the brand name I buy...but the cyclo's are the largest particle put in the water.

I feed different sized things to different corals. The frogspawn, hammer, and platygyra get very finely chopped shrimp, scallop, tuna, and other meaty foods. The sps, mushrooms, and zoas get the same thing, but crushed. I take a spoon, and mush the meats against the sides of the rubbermaid that I thaw them in. I plan to start feeding cyclopeeze and phyto soon.

anyone know the name of a good phyto as an example. I think that's about the only thing I'm missing out on serving.

Nanochloropsis is a good common green water to feed. If you meant brand name then I reccommend whatever is fresh.

Keep in mind that if you do decide to feed phyto, turn your skimmer off for a day or so. If you don't it will skim out your phyto and would be a waste.

I feed cyclopeeze and oyster eggs. The eggs really seem to stimulate the corals.

do you shut down skimmer or are we talking about spot feeding?

I shut down the skimmer, and the main return pump. I only spot feed corals that need it. The oyster eggs are super concentrated, so a little goes a long way. For your tank, you'd need to add around 1 teaspoon 2-3 times per week.
