What algae to run in my Refugium for my SPS tank?

I was wondering what all of you are running for algae in your refugiums.I just setup a new 120 tech series SPS dominant tank, and was wondering which algae to run in my refugim,I currently run several types of culerpra in my old reef.Is thi s good for my new reef?I have heard thta culerpra can go asexual and fowl a tank,is that true and if so how many have acually had this happen? Thanks for your input,Chris.

I run chaeto. It is the the consensus on here that it should be used and lit 24/7. I have been running it for 2 months and have a ton of growth and pods like crazy. My nitrates are 0 and my phosphates are very low. Culerpa can go a sexual and can cause issues. Chaeto can not.

To be safe Chris, just run chaeto and you will be fine.

So why run it 24/7? I have heard and read you only need to run is on the reverse cycle of your tank lights.

If you want variety (and good tang food) you can also run gracilaria. It is safe and non-toxic.
