no need to spend so much $$ on live sand , starting up a new tank im sure youll need to save $$ for skimmer, lights ect.. you can pick up some dry sand from eco-reef for $10 per 40lbs ... if you want you can get just 1 bag of the live stuff and spred it on top of the dry stuff to seed it ;) btw id get 3-4 40lb bags of the dry stuff..if yur looking for live rock i belive roger is trying to get rid of some at a steal of a price..id start with the rock/sand and let it cycle for a while wich gives you time to get yur game plan together

Use Joe's Juice, Kalkwasser paste or just plain old lemon juice to kill the aptasia. Dump some Salifert's Flatworm Exit in your tub to get rid of the rest of the flatworms. I would have thought you would have done this by now. You've had that rock for awhile now.

Doing it this way should save some of the good stuff.
Otherwise just take all the rock out and let it completely dry out in the sun, scrub it down, rinse it and start fresh with "dead" rock.

Welcome= big tanks = big headaches and deep pockets but sooo much more fun than lil guys IMO.

I believe Treeman sells live sand also. You might want to see if he has anything to offer. Good luck with the new tank.

adrian52492 07/15/2007 05:00 PM

i got 4 bags from eco today and a bag of live sand im going to get two more

Be sure to RINCE it, my tank was milky for 3 days.

Also, the sand may have salt with it too (mine did), so if your going to add water to it, be sure to check the salinity.
