naso tang ?

I can't get my naso tang to eat anything but the algea on the live rock wich is very little. I have tried algea sheets, mysis, cyclops, brine shrimp, and flake food any other idea's? my purple tang eats like a pig anything I put in there and yes the purple and naso get along great they swim togethere all the time no agresion at all.

they prefer algae, mine eats nori and any algae based frozen food

they will eat mysis but only as a last resort after all the nori is gone.

try cutting up the nori into small pieces and soaking in some water before you put it into the tank

garlic seems to help stimulate feeding in picky eaters

That's really unusual - I find Naso tangs are usually pigs. The ones I have kept ate everything from Nori to flake and pellet food to chopped mussel, clam, shrimp, salmon, tuna, broccolli, lettuce, even carrot shavings!
I find it is usually best to quarantine any new specimen in a bare tank to get him use to trying new foods CONFIDENTALLY before adding to the display tank.
It may be that your Naso is unwilling to try "new" foods because there is SOME algae which is his "normal" food in the display. If you place him in the quarantine tank he will have no choice but to try "new" foods as there will be no algae for him to browse on.
Good luck to you !!

it's common for a recently introduced Naso to go on a hunger strike.

When I first started with my tang he wouldn't eat either, I finally got him eating useing a stock of Romaine lettuce on a clip. After that the nori sheets worked great.

I had trouble with my naso, he didn't end up making it... I thought everything was fine, he actually did eat some too but not a lot.. good luck!
