Two little fishies Phos reactor question

I want to buy one of these but I am confused as to what I need. It is my understanding that it does not come with a pump? Does it come with tubing to run from the pump? What size pump? I've heard of people running these with various sizes of Maxi jet pumps?

Thanks,

you need a maxi 400

or a mininjet or really any slower flow pump. You don't need one specific kind, you could t off your main return pump too.

Are these good to run carbon in also? I read a couple reviews that said they use it for that?

I used to run two in series, carbon first then phosoban next, worked great for me and only used one pump, I adjusted the flow so that the phosoban was just I guess bubbling a little bit

the minijet pumps work good with it. You'll also need tubing which I believe is 1/2" ID

Thats a good idea =)

They work great. I got a pump that pushes 110GPH and I used the ball valve to restrict it half way. Just so the media is moving at the surface.

I used a tee off my return from my sump, and used a ball valve after the tee to control the flow thru it. It only recommends about 60 gph through the reactor, to much and you pulverize the media.

I'm not sure I want to cut into my plumbing just yet. I'm going to use a Maxijet 400 and ball valve for now.

Thank you all for your input on the topic =)

the reactor comes with the valve

Cool =) Thanks =)

I used a MaxiJet 400 on mine.

I just bought one this past week and have a rio 90 with 1/2" ID tubing. It seems to be working great so far
