Leopard Wrasse + Mandarin in a 125g
 

Has anyone successfully had a Leopard Wrasse and a Mandarin Goby in the same tank?

My Blue Star Leopard Wrasse has been in my tank for about a year and a half, eats prepared food really well. I do not normally see it searching for pods, but I know that is their normal behavior. None of my other fish are pod eaters either.

I know the Leopard would outcompete the mandarin for pods, but I just don't see her every eating any.

By the way tank is full of Live rock that has been established for over 5years. Any thoughts?????

An option would be trying to find a mandarin that takes prepared food. You can ask a store if they have any, and if they claim to, ask to see it feed, or come back when they do feeding. Most places don't care about showing you that they first eat. I've been in a few places that had mandarins during feeding time and a few of them were more than willing to eat prepared foods.

That would be your best bet as a way to have the natural food source plus another.

I have 2 leopard wrasses and a mandarin in my 75 for 2 years along with 5 other wrasses without any problems you will be fine..

I also have 2 leopards with a mandarin in my 120 for 1 year now without any problems.

Go for a large refuge if you can and "rinse" your chaeto and such in your tank releasing tons of pods.

I have to comment on on the leopard not eating pods. Yours doesn't run around picking and searching rockwork all day??? Both of mine do and every other one I've seen in person has the exact same routine. Constant searching of the tank for goodies.

My BSLW is constantly moving through the rockwork, and constantly active, but I rarely see him pick anything from within the corals or fom the rocks.

This may be because I feed my fish 2 to 3 times a day, and he is an absolute pig when it comes to eating prepared foods, including any veggie material that is put on the veggie clip.

I have had him for over a year and a half, and he has always been this way....

I was just curious, good to know. Both of mine are extremely aggressive eaters, but also patrol/search/pick all day. Mine love flake of all things almost as much as mysis??? :)
