Please Help! My blue zoos are not opening!
 

I have this pretty good sized piece of blue zoos that hasn't fully opend in a month. All my readings are good except my nitrates my be a little high at 20 ppm. Salt is 26 and everyting else seems to be doing ok. I had this problem when I first bought these and after a week they opened up. The thing is I moved a month later and ever since they haven't opend up. It was a very quick move less than 5 minutes down the road, but a move non the less. I feel like a broken record--See the "Treating With Vitamin C" thread.

Maybe increasing the flow to this area will help. This seemed to help some of my zoos that wouldn't open up.

This has helped my tank SSOOOOOO MUCH!! definately try it!!

If the flow is the problem, it will take a few days for the zoas to show improvement

they are not what I consider blue-they fall into the realm of white/light blue and that is how the appeared when you bought them-they also probably had green skirts. The hotter the color the higher the light, for the most part.

The guy at the LFS has about as much experience in zoanthid care as I do in 18 wheeler engine repair-those polyps will feed off of nutrients, light and nothing else. What is your lighting and have you dipped them for critters? good luck

Your nitrates at 20 could use some improvement and may indicate an overall problem with your tank. "Salt at 26" is kind of low. Salinity at 35 ppm is better for a reef and closer to normal seawater.
The vitamin C dosing does work. It has improved my tank a lot. Did you dip these zoas before adding them to your tank?
I think that the last thing that your zoas need is food but you definatly can feed them and they will grow and spread faster with food such as oyster eggs, cyclpseez, and other foods that are small in size. I thought "Salt at 26" meant SG of 1.026?

Ahh, good point Jeni. Did you frag that monti yet? I cant wait...
