yeah, I liked the EuroLoc too. Nothing has worked better than that. I don't like the bayonet. It is too tight to turn,. so I don't. I just push the collection cup down and levae it there. The oring holds it tight, but I await teh day of an accident, I do have five felines that like to jump on the skimmer. :)

dandy7200 11/14/2006 06:05 PM

Anyone know what size plumbing the SP4 takes?

scarletknight06 11/14/2006 06:06 PM

yeah the bayoney on the H&s's I've owned was well built, but very very hard to get off sometimes. I had to squeeze the collection cup to the point I thought it that it would bend and i though it might crack (this was on the smaller models, a110 and 90-f1000).

Fishbulb2 11/14/2006 06:07 PM

Scott,
I'm only considering the gate valve for now. I'm WAY to chicken to try the RC mod for now on a brand new skimmer. If I had an accident the wife would kill me. What are you opinions on the mods? The gatevalve one certainly seems highlt recommended.

I cant believe you got your skimmer before I did. If premium aquatics didnt drop ship euroreef skimmers I would have had it on friday! Damnit!!!! Oh well I hope its here tomorrow...

wow thats a lot of typos in my previous post. I promise I am somewhat competent. The rs80 already has a foam head built up.

Perhaps the cat isn't the only one in your house that is hitting the Smirnoff. LOL. I really like your avatar.

got a question for the experts out there. I bought an 8-3 used and it was recirculated ASM style with a sedra 9000. Its not producing the skimmate i want and I know the tank has a lot ot skim because of another skimmer i used previously for a test run. Its being fed by a MJ 600 right now. i was wondering if it would help if I added another 3500 NW to feed. Or what would you guys recommend?

I'm going thru the same thing with my new Euro rs135 I can't get it off it feels like that if I turn any harder is going to break.I did what the intructions said and added some of their lube to the o-rings one for the slide and the other for the collection cup.

MGB 11/16/2006 10:24 PM

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger and just buying the new RS 250. These skimmer options are just driving me crazy. For the price and the apparent performance this seams like as good as it gets.
Does anybody want to give me some feedback on the new RS series, thoughts good or bad. I'm going to put it on a 160, but it seams like its got plenty of capacity to handle a well stocked 160. Any feed back will be greatly appriciated.

I love my RS 80 so far. Its well built and skimming well. I have been in contact with ER with some questions I have via email and they have been answered promptly.

NOTICE:
If you bought an RS 80 after sept 1st of this year and you have the white pin wheel. ER will replace it for free with the NEW impeller, just contact them for details.

Conceyted 11/16/2006 11:02 PM

i still dont have my skimmer scarlet... grrr starting off on a bad foot

MGB 11/16/2006 11:18 PM

Does anybody have any pics of thier RS250 running, and is this size being supplied with the eurolocking cup...... how much clearence is needed for the collection cup.

Thanks MGB

vin 11/16/2006 11:19 PM

I talked to ER yesterday they think its the o-ring it might be a little thick so their sending me a thinner o-ring the other thing they mentioned is that i shouldn't try to snug the collection cup all the way.

It has the bayonet style cup mount. It needs very little clearance to take it off. I can post a pic this weekend.

fifty50 11/17/2006 11:20 AM

so if i want, i can get the impeller upgrade for my RS80, but i have to send in my impeller assembly to get the upgrade. is it worth doing?

jimdogg187 11/17/2006 02:07 PM

Call Chip (1877-hey-euro)

Tell him that you would like to upgrade. See what he says. They might just send you one first, then you can send your old one back. That way your skimmer won't be down for a couple of days.

They have done this for me and others, but they have also had problems with people not shipping their old stuff back in the past.

I just ordered a RS250 for our new 150 gal reef Whoo Hoo!

I decided the RS250 will be way more than I'll ever need for this tank. But since I'm not using a DSB the overskimming will be a good thing ;)

scarletknight06 11/17/2006 04:04 PM

they wouldnt ship me the new impeller first unfortunately. so i'll be skimmerless for a week probably.

Conceyted 11/17/2006 04:21 PM

don't feel too bad I just called premium aquatics today. they are still waiting on parts before they ship out my skimmer.... greeeaaaat. been skimmerless a week already. wondering if I should cancel my order and shell out the 150 bucks more for a deltec

scarletknight06 11/17/2006 04:55 PM

which skimmer did you order again?

asmodeus 11/17/2006 05:27 PM

i'm having trouble for a piece its $5.00 and they want me to spend 60 dollars to get it here to my place. Should have bought a Delec I would go deltec thou probably better service and a better skimmer..

Im not impressed with thier service.

this is my opinion as stated

dfleary 11/17/2006 05:30 PM

I have a EuroReef ES6 - 2+, and am considering the gate valve modification. Is it easy to do? What does it entail?

Conceyted 11/17/2006 05:53 PM

I ordered the rs180
