how many hours a day, and were they run on electronic or magnetic ballast? Very interested :)

ryno212 12/02/2007 07:33 PM

electric ballast, about 8 hours a day and 3 days off once a month, so 6 days of not being on if you want to realy know.

mtfatwork 12/03/2007 07:16 AM

shoot. those sound perfect but I run magnetic and they dont always fire bulbs that were ran by electronic ballasts :(

somebody jump on this, this is a stellar deal :)

ryno212 12/03/2007 07:19 AM

I have never heard of that. Why wouldn't they fire up?

mtfatwork 12/03/2007 10:45 AM

I dont remember exactly why but it is like the bulb get a "memory" and they fire differently on electronic. I have only had about 50% success rate with running bulbs that were originally run on electronic ballasts. Ticks me off a bit too since I essentially wasted a bunch of nearly new bulbs when I switched back to magnetic ballasts. I would come home and only 1 halide would be on some days. Sorry to take your thread OT like this. Here is another free bump for a great deal!

for whatever its worth mtfatwork, the radiums require a magnetic ballast with a built in igniter. if you try and use a radium on a standard pulse start magnetic ballast they will sometimes fire and sometimes not fire. I have two brand new radiums sitting on a shelf cause I wasnt told this when I bought them, and my standard magnetic ballasts wouldnt fire the bulbs all the time. So you may be having the same problem I was having. I havent ever heard of electronic ballasts causeing problems. But I have been wrong several times before. HEHE! Hope this helps, and If my information is wrong someone please correct me. cause this is just the explanation I was given for the same situation.
