Check either Chis at Aquatic Central or the other store in Taraval they also always carry mystery's, rhomboids and other wrasses.

Just this past weekend, saw 2 at Tropical on Taraval for $100 each.
Yeah, Tropical at Taraval usually has a bunch of wrasses like Chris at Aquatic Central.
thanks for the replies, i'll try heading up to SF to check it out this weekend
I have one for sale, come take take him away! Eating all my cleaner shrimp.
LOL, so do have that tendancy of doing that when larger and hungry....
Now you know not only the fish is expensive, but fish food is even more expensive:). For my "larger and hungry" one, I think it ate my two fire shrimps (ouch:(), and a number of peppermint shrimps. But it has not touched my remaining cleaner shrimps and some larger peppermint in the last one year, and it was beaten up badly by my "larger and hungry" hippo tang until I took it out.
Ken over at Amazon in San Jose had a Mystery as of yesterday.
Mine is very friendly and healthy. The only problem I have with him is that he eats every darn shrimp I put in my tank to clean.
Ive had 3 that inhabited the tank years prior to the introduction of the wrasse. Wake up one day only to see the decapitated shrimp laying lifeless. It was the one that always had the eggs too... So right now, I am clearing up some space in the tank, because I need to reaquascape my entire tank. I havent paid much attention to my corals. Tonggao - Which did you introduce first? The tang or the wrasse? They arent known to fight, mines in a tank with 4 other tangs and all they do is play. I will admit, the wrasse is afraid of the King of the Aquarium, Mister Sohal Tang. Just like everyone else, Sohals are very VERY territorial. |

Waxy, my hippo and mystery went into the new tank at the same time. The hippo is so much bigger, it can afford to bully everybody in the tank. What I could not figure out is somebody in the tank was biting off little pieces from the hippo's tail at the same time.
Tong, You got a new tank???????
Sorry Charles, didn't mean to confuse you. It was my new tank 1 year ago, and it is the same old tank you saw many times.
ahhhhh

What I could not figure out is somebody in the tank was biting off little pieces from the hippo's tail at the same time. [/B][/QUOTE] That is very unusual for a Tangs tail to be torn or bitten off. Most tangs as I recall, have spikes that protrude as a defensive mechanism. Ive seen my Sohal do it once on a Kole Tang I had before, its almost as big as my fingernail. Wrasses and Tangs in my experience, never fought and I had a large variety of tangs and wrasses. Could it be your tank has coodies? Please describe the condition of the tail, torn? rotting? flesh wounds? deterioration? bleeding? It should be bleeding, at the same time torn. If it were to be bitten by something. How big is the wrasse vs the tang? |
Do you have an Anemone or RBTA thats aggressive?
Im aware that my tang gets into trouble around my RBTAs because they are over-populating my tank. Its just the usual burns and white flesh that starts to peel and heal. Thats my only guess at this time, until there is more evidence laid out. |
