We feed the ORA pellets, flake and a frozen mix. They are supposed to be more black, another reefer here ( Helfrich's Chic ) has a female out of the same brood that has turned black. This is an older picture and they have gotten darker now, however they still have not turned completly black- we are ok with that, they are healthy and that is all that really matters...

Thanks for the comps :D

oceancube78 01/07/2008 12:15 AM

na, was just wondering, but they are really awsome needless!

Maximus 01/07/2008 01:14 AM

My ORA pair are getting darker. I wonder how long it takes them to be fully colored. Here is a pic when I got them. They have darkened up a bit since I've had them.

Those are pretty wicked - Love thier markings

hobbysalty 01/07/2008 10:38 AM

Nice pictures keep them coming.

Jovreefer 01/07/2008 12:30 PM

your clowns might not be getting more black because of the BTA, there are reports of some BTA's causing black to fade on true percs.

This pic has been up before but here is an old one of my ORA picasso on the bottom.

I love these clowns...well at least i get my first pair of clowns (oscellaris) tonight

Brett0909 01/07/2008 06:20 PM

Very cool clownies everyone! I'm jealous! We've been looking at getting some Picasso's from ORA and recently (today) had our LFS check their availability with ORA. They said they don't have any full Picasso's right now but should shortly. They did offer some "semi-Picassos". I'm wondering if anybody had ever heard of these before? I'd love to see some pictures! Apparently they are from the Picasso broodstock? but the tail markings are different and they offer them at a little over half the price as I was quoted ~60 while the full Picasso's are ~$100. My LFS wasn't really familiar with the Picasso's, so didnt have much info....I'm thinking these are the ones that don't have the "true/full" markings?

Thanks everyone for any insight you might have on this, and for all of your knowledge! This is my first posting, but I've spent many hours reading in the past! Yes, its an obsession...

:D

reefdragon1086 01/07/2008 06:22 PM

leoslizards 01/07/2008 07:17 PM

What does ORA mean? Are those Percula or Ocellairs?

Brett0909 01/07/2008 07:27 PM

Oceans, Reefs and Aquariums (ORA) marine ornamental hatchery produces aquacultured saltwater fish, invertebrates and live aquarium foods for the marine aquarium hobby.

They are ocellaris!

basser1 01/07/2008 10:04 PM

Here's mine I got back in August. This pic is when I first got them. Since then, the black outlines have gotten considerably darker and more black, particularly on the back behind the white eye stripe. I'll try to post an updated photo soon.

Ok I see. Thanks. :) So these people are the originators of these Picasso clowns and they are soo expensive because of their rare markings?

I wanted to get one but I just found out my so called Percula is actually a maroon. :|

toejammy 01/09/2008 09:16 AM

Another way to identify a picasso is by thier "chops" , you can see a very good shot of the chop on the clown on the right of this pic that basser1 put up...

Very sweet looking clowns... Let's see some more! :D :D :D

BTW have to agree they are percula's

vaporize 01/09/2008 02:00 PM

ORA picasso of course are percula :)
(btw, it's not my guess, it's direct from ORA)

racerw 01/09/2008 02:42 PM

leoslizards 01/09/2008 05:51 PM

These little guys look awesome. I saw one somewhere in this forum that was almost completely white. I think it was called whitewall or something like that.
How much do these guys go for?

I wanted a pair of normal perculas and thought I got one but he turned out to be a maroon instead. I can't complain because I got him for free. :| I talked to that person today and she's giving me another maroon tomorrow. I'm afraid they might be to aggressive though so I'll probably have to get rid of them. I'm gonna try to pair them up first and then sell them as a pair.
