Wanted: Used VHO

I plan to run VHO on my next tank and dont want to burn up a new set of bulbs while my rock is cycling and such. Anyone have a set of bulbs that they are planning to throw away anyways?

i juist bought 4 46.5 inch vhos 110 watt from a person on here for 25 $ he said they were 6 months old

i never fired them cause went halide instead so if ya want we can make a deal

I run most of my VHO's till they burn out. The two 160 watt in my family room display tank were used when I got the fixture 2 and 1/2 years ago, and I run them 14 hrs/day( the tank does also have 250 halides just changed out a 2 1/2+ yr old halide last wk.) I have problems with acros and Monti Caps growing up out of the water. And coral colors all appear to be doing fine, so I think you'll do fine with old bulbs. I also have tanks with VHO only and the growth and color on the acros seems to do fine did notice the color drop off on the acros with old bulbs on the tank that only had 2 VHO bulbs and 2 NO bulbs. Hope that helps. :)

you could also run the phillps 65k bulbs from home depo. they are 4.00 for 2. The color is not the best but they are cheap. I had the overdriven withe the icecap660

Ill keep that in mind, its an ARO ballast not an icecap so they will be at the full 110w.
